Videogame Movie Thoughts

 5-4-22

The Sonic the hedgehog movies are a good example of how they try to manipulate us. Nobody wanted a buddy cop film. Who is that guy who is hanging around sonic? Where was he in the video game? They added that character on purpose to make the film imperfect and flawed so that they can give us the film we want in another ten years and that version is going to be flawed too forcing us to be invested ten years after that.

They have no regard for the source material, Knuckles should have shown up in the third installment. I haven't seen either film; I don't want to see them. I'm not giving Hollywood money for insulting my intelligence and taking advantage of my childhood nostalgia, failing to give us the movie we wanted to see. There is no reason for me to be invested in this series.

The commercials didn't show that colorful edgy interesting world we know and love enough. If they have that world in the movie but didn't show it in the previews then they gambled and in my case they lost, and I don't want to see James Marsden in that colorful world. I want sonic bouncing off of cool looking trampolines and running off of ramps. I want to see a movie of the TV shows where the obstacle henchmen robots became legit characters. Are they in the film, the previews certainly don't indicate that they are.

Another thing, why didn't they get Jaleel White to play sonic. He Certainly would have been up to it. Why do we need yet another generic white guy playing this kind of role. Jaleel white had great charisma and his voice fits sonic better than the boring guy they chose.

I'm glad the kids can get something out of it, but this movie is a let down for any of us who wanted a legit movie. How old am I going to be when they finally get it right. They should be sued for these tactics.

Star Trek is Ruined...Fix It!

5-4-22

Startrek Iicard is a racist excuse for them to keep things about white males as were the reboots, enterprise, and even the true command hierarchy in Discovery. I do not consider it a legitimate followup to Voyager. I am also upset with their racist descision to not keep Seven and Chakotay together. I want People who arent white and females to have legitimate leading rank in these shows.

I'm tired of all the cheap tactics they pull to keep racism and sexism the standard of the shows and movies. Startrek Picard almost seems like them trying to cheaply follow through with a sabotage of discovery, they pulled the same shit with the Starwars Force Awakens Series. They give us a sabotaged diverse series or set of movies with purposefully hollow diverse characters who have written in,  unnatural, freakishly weak/weird flaws so that can say that they tried, when they really didn't they dd the opposite of trying,  then they try to give us what they want to believe we want with another series that follows that isn't sabotaged that they make thrilling and exciting with the stars being white males. The rest of us are just supposed to accept this and be happy with the poisoned crumbs they gave us so glorify white males and make everyone else look weak and underwhelming. When is enough enough!? When is the public going to catch on to this and expose these backwards crooks who have no business running this franchise. Its 2022! It really is! Its time to move forward now its time for REAL PROGRESS! Startrek isnt white male nerd land where we have white nerds on tv shows dicredit the legitimacy of voyager the show with the first female captain. Startrek is suposed to be about progress, diversity, and moving forward!

Startrek Discovery is a lie. It' supposed to be the "diverse" start trek and they sabotaged its progress in a variety of ways that would make us hate it,  then its like they said "hey the diversity thing didn't work! We fixed things with Picard! Don't you want to see a white guys! Don't worry ladies and gentlemen its all a bout a white guys again, and there is another sexually exploited and degraded white female in it because were all about equality in that area too! The return of that popular voyager character  (we try to make you hate voyager in every other way) who should have been a diverse casting in the first place! YAY!"

On top of that Startrek Picard is a waste. What are they going to do when Patrick Sterwart dies? They should have called it something like Startrek Destiny so that the crew could take over and the series can go on in the inevitable case that Patrick Stewart passes away. Weak sauce all the way around and spit in all of our faces.

11-3-18

Star trek is ruined. The reboots were not progress they were an abysmal and embarrassing step backwards for the series, as was enterprise, and discovery is another step backwards born from the excrement of the reboots.
The reboots are a betrayal. Despite the lies and excuses it was a cash grab that threw generations of loyal fans overboard. Star trek didn't need to be rock and roll, it was classical music. I don't mind an electric guitar or synth in my classical music every now and then, but keep the original structure. The reboots and new series are all show and no go. The substance and progress has been replaced with lies and a charade. They KNOW that the right decision was to pick up where voyager left off but doing that would have meant an empowering diverse cast of leads and they were too lazy greedy and biased to give the people what they wanted. They chose to hold on to everything that was backwards and shallow about the series.
The klingons are ruined, yes they needed a more progressive boost, discovery's version is NOT it! The "diversity" of discovery is a sham it is weak sauce diversity and it is not authentic, it is not diverse or progressive enough and they know it. Enterprise was literally the backwards behind the times, boring tripe that started this downward spiral and now it seems the series is ruined beyond repair.
Now, if they want to fix startrek, they need to pick up where voyager left off with an even more diverse crew, I recommend ken Wanatabe as captain (and a female first officer like everything that's good about the chick from discovery), and they need to return to the less is more format voyager had. This ultra flashy all show no go format is not necessary, startrek was better when the writing and the concepts amazed viewers, it doesn't need to have a massive starwars feel.
They should also apologize to the audience for enterprise, the reboots, and discovery and just admit that going backwards instead of forward was not the answer. Cancel discovery and pick up where voyager left off.

Comic Book Movie Thoughts

3-11-22
I am appalled at just how far these corny soulless sock accounts are going to shove this phony illegitimate cash grab of a Batman movie down our throats. I am sick of seeing all of these memes trying to brain wash us into thinking that Pattinson has somehow triumphed his way into being a legitimate batman. THEY NEEDED A SOCK ACCOUNT CAMPAIGN TO BRAINWASH PEOPLE INTO LIKING IT! And these studio hired morons are acting as if they have triumphed as if they won some hard fought victory! Didn't they have a child hood. Didn't some of them like Keaton's portrayal as batman. Don't they remember what fun was?! This movie is garbage! Why isn't anyone exposing these sock accounts?!
I'm also tired of normal Batman fans lowering their standards to force themselves to like this dry, bland, boring turd of a film. Ive seen people who were throwing their weight around as bad asses talking about Pattinson's artistry. Artists don't need a campaign of studio hires to force the public to like them. Its like these folk delight in shooting themselves in the foot. Don't they remember how naturally edgy and cool Keaton's portrayal was? Why do they feel that they have to settle for this massive step down from that?!
Come on already! Its the guy from twilight! You don't have to accept  this cash grab as a must! Didn't people speak out against the design of sonic?! Didn't they demand that it be changed to the point where the studio listened to the people!? This Batman casting is five trillion times worse than that Sonic design and nobody said anything about it!
I like batman's detective skills but making it the whole thing was such a boring idea. I saw the sock accounts trying for YEARS to force us to think we wanted that instead of a movie of Arkam City which would have had that and so much more. I wanted a reasonably dark, fun, somewhat fantastical, larger than life batman movie that I could enjoy. A movie with a Batman that beats people up the normal way, IS a hero and has fun interesting Riddler that doesn't look like he's wearing a green condom on his head! I wanted a Penguin who is larger than life, not some boring plain looking fat guy with no charm or fantastical element who's action figure has to be one of the most boring generic supervillain toys I have seen.
Love it or hate it, batman is not hard liquor, Hes a Coke. There's too much hard liquor in the batman recipe and its ruining the character. I miss when there was something in the film everyone could enjoy. All they try to do these days is top Heath Ledger's Joker. they don't care about creating something that isn't a depression fest that can actually compete with how fun and larger than life marvel comes off as. If you want people to be invested in a multiple film universe, which is what DC is supposed to be doing, they aren't going to want to stick around if every installment is a depressing joyless snooze fest that some pretentious director with no rapport with the people wants.
On top of that, these sock accounts want us to praise a guy who isn't really passionate about the role, didn't work out, and probably will ditch batman when he gets completely bored with it. They should have picked a no name who wouldn't mind making batman their career for like ten years. Pattinson talks about how he is prepared to make the character unfold psychologically if sequels are made. I really don't care. I just want to enjoy a batman movie again.
Stop using all those Adam West batman dancing clips to ruin peoples perspective of that series. I miss it. I enjoyed that series as a child, those were iconic classic portrayals and I can use more of that high spirited stuff in the new stuff without them jumping the shark. Times have changed, give us something we can enjoy.
Serial killers are boring. Why are we glorying them anyway? Children are watching these films. I want high tech lairs, flying umbrellas, etc. Even if that stuff is in the film, which it almost certainly isn't, I have no interest in watching it because of the dishonest campaign they used to force us to like it. i can only hope that people come to their senses, that it is revealed that Warner paid the critics in Rotten Tomatoes, and that sequels of this film are scrapped and they give us something the public can relate to that isn't this dull garbage cash grab.

The Batman
I am not rooting for The Batman. The Sock account campaign Warner launched to try to force us to like this abomination has ruined any hope of me liking it. I don't care how well it does, its a failure on so many levels I will never accept it as legit. Its a cash grab in some places, like choosing Pattinson to play batman, its way too depressing and realistic when these times require something more like Arkham City's palette and dare I say Batman Forever in mood, something fun and more lighthearted that is dark in the right places (like Marvel movies).
The Batmobile is so stripped down and boring I will never like it. I don't care if they pull a surprise in the end and give us the Batmobile we should have had in look. I like to see Batmobiles in their full, most fun and cool form advertised on things like McDonalds cups for fun. That boring, generic, and underwhelming muscle car is nowhere near as cool as ANY of the Batmobiles that have been shown from Batman 89 till now (I'd even take the west car over it in some ways. I don't care about its capabilities, I want a car that looks amazing and this one doesn't. Id take Batman and Robin's Batmobile over this snooze fest. Honestly, Id take Batman and Robin over this film.
I'm tired of everyone Saying Batman Forever and Batman and Robin was bad and crapping on those products. Batman Forever was a success in its day without a massive sock account campaign trying to force people to like it, and was fun and cool. Batman and Robin Jumped the shark, but at least there was reasonable lightheartedness, fun, cool artistically satisfying grappling hooks, a Batfamily, aspects like family, and color for heavens sake! And come on, The Batman so depressing he cant even have a cool artistically satisfying logo anymore. He's wearing crime alley now so even if they don't show it for the ten billionth time he gets to wear it for an entire film! I'm tired of depressing films, these times are too hard. I want fun again! The Bale saga style has been done to death, and no one is topping it. Batman is best going from dark to a reasonably lighter approach back and forth from west to Keaton and back to west again so on and so forth. Batman needs that. The Dark is too depressing now. Scarecrow's right at this point, he really does need to lighten up, and this time Joker's question is valid Why does he always have to be so serious even to the detriment of the franchise!?!

Too Many Characters in Batman
I'm a very casual fan, and maybe they are already doing this, but I think Batman has WAY too many characters. There should be a point where they retire adding new characters to it and just make good on what they have built over the years.
I really think that characters like Court of Owls, Black Mask, Damien Wayne, Deathstroke, etc should be Nightwing Villains and sidekicks instead. They are missing out on the opportunity to grow that franchise and Nightwing is the one who really needs those characters. None of them will measure up to Batman's classic rogues gallery the way the classic villains do; they might as well let a character who really needs them have them. I'm not saying it isn't happening but it needs to happen more.
5-10-18
I think killing Spider-Man was the single dumbest decision marvel could have made. Spider-Man is marvel's Mickey Mouse whereas ironman is not only over exposed but compared to Spider-Man he is marvels Goofy. The MCU had a young Spider-Man who could have taken the torch from iron man in this movie and caried the MCU for 9 films, sadly marvel has ruined this possibility.
Tony stark has nothing left to give, it really was time for him to be replaced by Spider-Man, I can't stress this enough. Marvel has lost its way. Spider-Man is not a second fiddle afterthought of a character, he is marvels #1 attraction. It doesn't matter if they bring him back, they have sent the message that he is not as important as the avengers or stark, any love I had for the MCU has diminished. They said something along the lines that no character was sacred and all of them could be killed in this movie. This should have been a lie because the truth is Spider-Man was thier future and they just discredited it in a massive way. They should have just let Sony have Spider-Man, at least at Sony Spider-Man was the main event. The MCU just threw Spider-Man in civil war for cheap brownie points against DC. They obviously didn't have realistic and effective plans for a solid sustainable and long term credible future for Spider-Man. Now even if they bring him back, to me he's just Tony Starks lackey. The Mickie mouse of marvel is an afterthought in favor of marvels goofy. I'm really tired of Hollywood ruining Spider-Man. I don't think they ever really got him right and the MCU may have ruined him till further notice. Couldn't be more pissed about this.

4-24-18
The only way to do Spider-Man right on screen is to plan for 9 movies (3trilogies), the first three should be classic Spider-Man, the second three should be for the symbiote story (venom and carnage), and the third three should be for the clone series (scarlet spider and spider carnage). Everything they have done so far has been garbage and the venom and carnage (Spider-Man's two face and joker) keep getting the low end of the stick.

Cassidy should be a continuing character through the 9 part series (so should doc ock). Casady can be a serial killer that Spider-Man puts away in the classic trilogy, he can become carnage during part 3 of the symbiote trilogy (part 6 overall), and he can become spider carnage during part three of the clone trilogy (part 9 overall)

A nine part Spider-Man series could be marvels bread and butter after the avengers.

I don't like tom holland as Spider-Man, I'm tired of these super nerd portrayals of the character. Trade in that inhaler for the Spider-Man of the 90s especially the cartoon show. Spider-Man overall is supposed to be a cool exceptional well rounded person, not the stereotypical lame ass nerd they have been portraying him as.

2-13-18
If the director of Deadpool wants to work on an Xmen project that is almost everything the series needs. However, if he does not reboot that bland overdone dropped ball of a series, he is wasting his time and the effort will certainly continue to do damage to xmens mainstream movie presence and to the MCU itself.

I think the MCU is spread too thin and it does not have a solid follow up to Robert Downey jrs iron man. Spider-Man was the logical act to follow him, but the guy they got to play him isn't impactful enough to run with that torch. I'm tired of the revenge of the nerds version of Spider-Man. I liked the Peter Parker of the 90s cartoon show because he was more of a man and an individual than any form of cliche, his sarcasm was also spot on for its time. The other problem with Hollands Spider-Man is he is drowning in a sea of other marvel super heroes none of whom are like holland are charasmatic enough to pick up where Robert Downey Jr. Would leave off in the event of him departing from the series. He is also over exposed and really needed to pass the torch to a personality equal to the impact he has made.

2017 Notes
After the box office fail of Justice league, these are the critical and easy damage control steps warner needs to take in order to repair the DCEU Without having to start from scratch

Make the justice league sequel a big screen rendition of the justice league cartoon show!!!!! This will tap into all of the marketing that went into the original justice league show and recapture the interest of everyone who saw the show from 2001-2004. They must bring in the JL cartoons version of green lantern, hawk girl, Martian Man Hunter, etc. MAKE THEM DIRECT TRANSLATIONS DO NOT MAKE DISAPOINTING VERSIONS OF THEM THAT DONT LIVE UP TO THE CARTOON SHOW'S SOURCE MATERIAL! (Obviously they will have to keep ezra miller, which isn't a bad thing at all, They just need to make him as much like the JL tv show version of the flash as they can.)

Get Cyborg out of the justice league movie series, cancel the cyborg standalone, and make a teen titans movie instead. There is no reason why they cant do this, Ben Afflecks batman is old and grizzled I'm sure they can find a way to get robin in the film.

Having TVSHOW BASED films of Justice League and Teen titans (the first series). WILL save the DCEU if they are done properly by respecting the source material of the previous shows as much as possible. Again think of all the disappointed people who wanted to see live action versions of these TV Shows. Hope is not lost for them to see their favorite TV shows come to life, it is a smart and effective plan B that has tons of past, still valid, marketing present.

Phase out Snyders Touch on the product.
Look, there is no need to disrespect Zack Snyder, he had high points and done very low points and even though I wasn't a big fan of his, they need to respectfully phase him out (or let him be a visual effects consultant ONLY (NO MORE DARK TONES!!!)) and keep everything he did that honored all of the past marketing, in the realm of the old warner bros tv shows, while completely stopping everything he did that was a fail. GET RID OF THE DARK TONE (!!!!!), lean more towards the authentic credible directing and palette that more successful directors like Patty Jenkins provided.

Lean more towards the TV Shows than the comics
Casual fans have not read the DC Comics. Please the comic book fans by making TV renditions of what they want to see on screen this will attract a wider audience then make a film of the TV version, this is a tried and true formula responsible for much of warner's past cinematic success concerning DC Making direct renditions of the warner TV shows; from where the movies are now it's the ONLY way of saving the DCEU!

Keep Ben Affleck
Ben Affleck is a credible director and his version of batman is not bad. He has what it takes to continue with the role. Whatever is making him miserable, put a stop to it and if there is anything that can be done to utilize his skill as a director, DO IT!

2016 Notes
It isn’t a necessary film I think batman v superman is a bad idea, and the film is in danger of not being a step forward for DC Films.
What's the point?
Why do the two characters even need to clash at all? With the universe of villains both Batman and Superman have, don’t they have enough worries without having to fight each other? Why must we sit through a whole film of batman and superman fighting just to see the justice league? All they need to do is have two sequels for every character involved in the justice league and then a justice league film would be validated.
If all the necessary steps were taken in the single character films that lead up to The Justice League, it would work.

Fleisher studios all over again?
This B(v)S rush, reminds me of what Fleisher studios did when they made thier full length animated film "gulivers travels" to compete with Disney’s snow white. Instead of producing a worthy competing film on their own, with patience and proper development, they rushed the production for the easy money, did too much too soon, and ruined their chances of effectively competing with the Disney full length animated feature. Fleisher’s “Gulliver’s travels” was a disaster. That is what this Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film is in danger of doing.

Do they have the right leadership?
Snyder is good at making adaptations of graphic novels however, his original films tend to fall flat. I could understand if the project was to bring DVD best primary hero related graphic novels to life literally from the pages, then Snyder could have a chance because he would be working in an area he has had great past success in. But puting the future of DC comics films in the hands of someone who hasn't has great success with original find seems to be a major potential error on thier part.
Does Zack Snyder have enough rapport with the audience to make an effort as fun and universally satisfying as the Avengers was? Is he the man to set up for this? Is Ben Affleck an appropriate answer to Robert Downey junior? Today’s cinematic iron man is fun, edgy, charismatic, and a thrill to watch. Batman can be thrilling, but not only has he seen better days and attire, his brooding, dark, semi depressing ways are in need of a fun filled entertaining alternative on the team. Where is our fun, must see, rapport establishing character to remind us that this is going to be an action packed edge of your seat joy producing roller coaster? Batman is not that kind of character, in my opinion, he is the sobering dark reality of the coaster, not the fun friend you ride it with. Even though Ryan Reynolds should have played the flash, Renolds as green lantern could have at least offered a much needed fun character that could have brought forth one liners and gags entertaining to the audience, especially if they let him be himself and barely censor him. Are they going to stick with the version of Green Lantern they obviously spent a fortune on or will they throw away that money and reboot the character, letting marvel drink all that is intoxicating about the Ryan Renolds factor’s punch spike? Superman is barely established and batman is overexposed They didn’t even give the Man of Steel franchise a chance to step out on its own with one or two more sequels. They just jumped right into batman returning to the spotlight. I have no desire to see a barely established superman go toe to toe with an underdog version of a character that Nolan created the best version of already. Affleck could make the character shine, I won’t subtract for his potential, he has been on a role as of late, but will it be enough? Instead of superman being his own character, that we should care about, maybe even having his own style, the production of the Man of Steel franchise comes off as a knock off as cheap as Shumacher’s Batman efforts following Burton. Man of steel seems to be today’s Batman Forever and now, with all the characters being rushed in, the potentially corny dialogue, etc, Batman V Superman looks like it could very well be the next Batman & Robin. Wasted Wonder Woman? Looking back, maybe it would have been better for Snyder to have made a Wonder Woman movie instead of Sucker Punch. It certainly would have helped the DC Cinematic universe and perhaps would have also not tainted the progress Snyder was making on his films. Today’s film market seems to cater to the female demographic. All of the complex factors, focused on in Sucker Punch, may have been more at home in a Wonder Woman movie’s direction fulfilling rails. It ultimately catering to a household name that requires a happy ending /ultimately satisfied audience would have deflected the factors that made Sucker Punch unbearable. For as under exposed as superman has become due to Warner’s batman addiction, Wonder Woman is practically nonexistent in relevant mainstream focus. Nothing that is powerful, besides the justice league animated series comes to mind, and as far as it’s concerned, Snyder has already dived quite far off the rails of the possibility of successfully challenging that show’s success factor. Lacking Lex Luther Why is Lex Luthor being introduced in a batman vs. superman movie? Isn’t Lex Luthor capable, and worthy as a household name in the Superman franchise, to carry a film against Superman by himself? Of all the powerful looking charismatic figures for the Lex Luther role, why did they choose Jessie Eisenberg? I’m not saying that Jessie isn’t talented, he is, but this version seems so derivative of Heath Ledgers joker, I find myself being embarrassed by it and I’m not the one making the film. Why does Lex Luthor’s hair need an origin story? It isn’t as dramatic of a factor as Harvey Dent’s face. You have a potentially Iconic scene with Bruce Wayne meeting Clark Kent for the first time, wouldn’t it have been better to have a tall bald menacing version of Luther enter the conversation. How are casual fans who only know Luther as bald, going to recognize him visually? I guarantee with all the characters they are going to introduce in this film, the time for Lex losing his hair could have been replaced with a more relevant plot point for someone else. This alone seems a fatal mistake for the movie. In Closing… Dc’s movie franchise has all the potential in the world, but putting all your eggs in a questionable basket does not seem the way to keep the promise alive in the franchises. I’d like to say no pun intended, but there is an Eisenberg right ahead where one almost certainly shouldn’t be, and it isn’t the only factor that could sink this very large ship filled to capacity.

Current Scifi movie thoughts

Jurassic park 5 looks like a contrived thrown together waste of time with shallow leads. Brice Dallas Howard was a good choice but Chris Pratt is one dimensional and his character is no where near the level of an Alan grant or an Ian Malcolm. They should have ended the series with Jurassic park 4.
I like the idea of the park being open for sequels. I don't think they need to shut the park down every time they have an incident, they can always replace the leadership that dropped the ball and keep thier doors open.
They need to reboot the series completely, update the look of the dinosaurs to current models, and they need to come up with five original, not contrived, exceptional scripts ahead of time so they can have a long cohesive series that doesn't insult the intelligence of the viewer.

There is a scene in ready player one almost identical to a concept in one of my books I wrote back in 2005, I think they hack our computers and steal our ideas. We need to report these atrocities more often.
